Support for GP Practices & Nurse Prescribers
My name is Henriette O’Bryan, a psychotherapeutic counsellor and founder of Menopause Relief Therapy, specialising in menopause mental health. I provide menopause-informed psychological support for women experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, sleep disruption, as well as emotional and psychological changes during midlife, including during perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause.
Hormonal changes can affect the brain and nervous system, influencing mood, stress levels, and resilience. Psychological support can help patients better understand these changes and develop practical ways to manage symptoms and feel more in control.
How I Can Support Your Patients
I offer one-to-one counselling tailored to the individual, supporting patients with:
✔ Anxiety, overwhelm, and low mood
✔ Sleep disruption and night-time waking
✔ Hot flush distress and panic response
✔ Reduced confidence and emotional resilience
✔ Identity changes and difficulty coping in midlife
Sessions are available online across the UK, with in-person support available locally.
How I Provide Menopause Mental Health Support
I provide menopause mental health support for women experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, and sleep disruption during midlife. My approach focuses on both the emotional and physiological impact of menopause symptoms. My work is informed by specialist training in menopause mental health, including menopause-adapted Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), the EMBERS® Menopause-Informed CBT model, and training with the British Menopause Society.
The focus is on practical, evidence-based strategies that help patients:
- Calm the stress response
- Manage anxiety and overwhelm
- Improve sleep and emotional regulation
- Feel more confident in managing symptoms day to day
Working Alongside Medical Care
I work alongside medical treatment, including HRT where appropriate, and welcome collaboration with:
• GP practices
• British Menopause Society-trained nurse prescribers
• women’s health professionals
This approach supports patients in addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of menopause. This can be particularly helpful for patients who prefer a non-hormonal approach, or alongside HRT where additional psychological support is needed.
